Little Rock Township to Hold Special Meeting on Proposed Data Center Regulations

The People of Little Rock Township will have an opportunity to weigh in on potential new regulations during a special township meeting scheduled for early May.

According to an official notice on the Little Rock Township Facebook page, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, township officials received a petition, in accordance with 60 ILCS 1/35-5 of the Illinois Township Code, calling for a Special Meeting to address matters affecting the community’s welfare, including environmental protection and property concerns.

The meeting will take place on May 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at 611 W. Main Street in Plano.

The posted agenda notes a presentation and consideration of proposed data center regulations, which could ultimately be submitted to township voters as a ballot measure. The proposal is expected to address issues related to land use, environmental impact, and infrastructure demands associated with large-scale data center developments.

The topic of data centers has gained increasing attention across Kendall County in recent months, particularly in nearby Yorkville, where discussions around potential developments have raised questions about energy usage, water consumption, and the impact on local infrastructure. That growing area interest is likely contributing to the urgency behind the People of Little Rock Township’s request to evaluate possible regulations.

Officials noted that the meeting is being convened “for the common good of the township,” with particular emphasis on safeguarding property and the environment.

Public notice of the meeting and agenda will be publicly posted “in accordance with applicable law,” according to the Little Rock Township Facebook page. Residents are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion, especially as the outcome could influence future local policy and potentially appear before voters on the ballot.
