We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym to Open in Yorkville

Yorkville is preparing to welcome a unique space for children and families with the grand opening of We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Located at 1435 Cannonball Trail, this new gym is designed to provide a sensory-safe and engaging environment for children of all abilities, including those with autism and special needs, as well as those with typical development.

The grand opening celebration, scheduled from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, invites families to explore the gym's unique features, which include twelve pieces of therapeutic equipment. These specially designed apparatuses aim to address sensory processing challenges and promote vital sensory development for all children. Highlights of the gym include a zip slider for vestibular input and upper body strength, trampolines, and a variety of swings.

Owners Amy and James Allen are “very excited to be a part of this community.” They are looking forward to meeting everyone in Yorkville. This location marks their second venture, following the successful opening of their Shorewood gym last August. Their personal experiences and strong community support have motivated them to expand these essential resources. Amy Allen, a former in-home daycare provider and a physical therapist assistant specializing in early intervention, has expressed her deep commitment to the community. "My passion has always been helping kids and families navigate the challenges that come with raising children with special needs," says Allen. "I want to be a resource for the community because I understand how difficult it can be to raise children, especially those with special needs."

The Yorkville location will offer open play, unique classes, children's day camp opportunities, plus arts and crafts, providing a comprehensive range of activities to support children's development. During the grand opening celebration, children will have the chance to experience all the specialized equipment, with admission priced at $18 per child. Treats and refreshments will be sponsored by the My Brother Rocks the Spectrum Foundation, the franchise's nonprofit arm dedicated to supporting children with autism.
